Children who witness domestic violence or abuse themselves will be at risk long term physically and/or mentally
Children who witness domestic violence between their parents may be at risk of being violent in future relationships
Teens who have witnessed abuse may act out in negative ways such as fighting and skipping school. (bullying or getting in trouble with the law)
Abusive relationships can cause within a child making them feel like it's their fault when they really are the victim

If the child or teen has high self esteem or builds it
A good support system or and good relationships with an trusted adult

This hit home for me coming from a chaotic household and family situation growing up ! and I agree with Danielle's comment!
Also, just wanna throw out there that it's always better to get a divorce than to stay in an abusive situation. Yes, divorce is tumultuous and tragic, but so is having to grow up in an environment where abuse is normalized.
